
Volodymyr Sukhanov has been appointed Director of the Department for Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Services Providers of the National Bank of Ukraine. His appointment took effect on January 24, 2025.
Volodymyr Sukhanov will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the law by non-bank financial institutions, assessing the risks of their activities and responding to violations. His tasks also include participating in the review of the quality of corporate governance and internal control of supervised entities. He will analyze non-banking financial services markets and regularly assess the financial condition of such institutions. In addition, his work will include establishing transparent cooperation with market participants to create modern and effective regulation.
The Department for Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Services Providers is subordinated to the Prudential Supervision vertical, which is headed by Deputy Governor Dmytro Oliynyk. He noted that the department’s goal is to strengthen the legal and regulatory framework for non-bank financial institutions and insurers, implement a risk-based approach, and improve supervision efficiency.
In November 2024, the NBU established this department as part of the renewal of its organizational structure to strengthen supervision over non-bank financial institutions.
Volodymyr Sukhanov has 18 years of experience in the banking system, including more than 10 years in banking supervision at the National Bank of Ukraine. Previously, he served as Deputy Director of the Integrated Banking Supervision Department, where he supervised more than 20 banks and 30 non-bank payment institutions. Prior to joining the NBU, he worked in the management of Ukrainian banks, focusing on the development of retail business and branch network.
Volodymyr Sukhanov graduated from National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” in 2007 with a Master’s degree in Economic Cybernetics.
